The library offers Information Skills Training courses to help you improve your searching skills.

      Introduction to Searching CNAHL for Nurses, Midwives, and AHPs (details to follow)

    • Tuesday 23rd August, Wednesday 21st September
      Introduction to searching Medline (Ovid)
      Virtual
      Learn how to perform an effective search for evidence within Medline using the Ovid platform.
    • Thursday 15th September
      Critical Appraisal-virtual session
      Virtual – 11:00
      Learn how to critically appraise a qualitative or quantitative research article using a critical appraisal checklist. This workshop will: Introduce you to the key elements of critical appraisal Introduce different study designs Go through the relevant CASP* checklist in detail using a published article. You will be asked to read an article we send out a few days before the session. Being familiar with it will make the session more enjoyable.

Courses are run for ‘One to One’ and small group training, or special sessions for larger and departmental teams anywhere in the trust. Contact the library to discuss ‘bespoke’ training sessions for groups and departments.
